Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 (MOM 2000) was promised to provide a comprehensive solution for centralized event and performance management of Windows 2000 based servers and .NET Servers. Cliff Reeves, VP of Marketing for Microsoft is a 30 year veteran in the software industry, working with IBM and Lotus Development in the past. He said MOM is a major investment area for Microsoft and promises to offer a best of breed solution for managing Windows based services and applications in data centers.
Through colorful, Hollywood-styled demos, MOM showed how data administrators could both detect and react to critical events, like server crashes. Featuring canned default information, the MOM system is said to be easy to set up and deploy, with a quicker ROI than other management systems.
The product was demonstrated at several locations through the show.
