Due to the onslaught of technology, conferences and print materials, my office space has become very limited to accommodate additional desktop computers and related equipment. Since Sony has been my production video monitor for many years, it was natural to add it to my shopping list.

Even though the Sony 15sx is at the budget end of the Sony line, it boasts 1280 by 1024 pixel resolution, an aperture grille and a 0.25 mm dot pitch. Sony quality, reliability and design were quite evident. The controls were a bit difficult to use, but weren't too bad. After the initial set up and fine tuning, no further adjustments were required. I used the Sony on a new Nexar modular desktop computer and a laptop docking station.

The Sony Multiscan 15sx 15 inch monitor has listed for as much as $500, in the past two years, but has now been replaced by more recent models, and the price has dropped. Two years ago, faced with an immediate monitor need, I went shopping and ended up purchasing two units. When other offices in the building heard about this purchase, they asked for advice and I recommended this model. Now, almost two years later, all monitor recipients are extremely pleased. No failures or problems have been noted and the images are still crisp and sharp as day one.

Although a 17 inch monitor would offer 30% more screen space, the Sony 15sx size has not created any negative viewing comments due in part to the image sharpness. Also, the system's compact size and contemporary styling, prompt some to comment it's a very efficient, compact and good looking monitor. It was a great monitor then as well as now. I highly recommend it.
