I like the Toshiba PDR-M5. Ever since it saw the first prototype at last year's PC Expo, I was impressed. When a production version arrived several months later, I was very excited about it. Now over 2,500 pictures later, I still like this camera. While I can suggest improvements (I can do that to almost ANY digicam), this Toshiba is a great overall camera in a variety of situations. It combines good battery life with great resolution and a host of useful features. I recommend this camera.

What you notice right away is that the Toshiba PDR-M5 is an ergonomically shaped digital camera. Its designers took a bold step forward in creating a camera that easily fits your hand, instead of a rectangular box shape. From its outward appearance the PDR-M5 looks bulky, but people I show it to are AMAZED by its light weight. It has been a joy to use and takes great pictures. That's where I'll begin - the pictures.

The high resolution (1600x1200 pixel), low compression pictures are fantastic. Owning a Sony Mavica, there was no comparison between these cameras - the clear, rich, vivid pictures of the Toshiba were fantastic. When coupled with the capability to also take good looking AVI movie clips, this camera is a versatile performer. I have been satisfied with a majority of the pictures I have taken with the camera in a variety of conditions. I have taken pictures in 7 states at a variety of events and both indoors and outdoors.
