Monitor evaluations and recommendations are very important to me because of three essential reasons. First, I spend a lot of time looking at the screen and need clear, crisp, well saturated and balanced color images which minimize eye strain while delivering exceptional images. Second, migrating from a film, high definition video production background, image esthetics coupled with reliability and stability, over the long run, are of utmost importance. Third, I should be able to afford to purchase a suitable monitor focused on my needs for the long term, since people seem to upgrade computers and peripherals more frequently than display screens. However, dropping prices of all screens with even better images indicate 19 inch and higher screens and more affordable space saving LCD and plasma flat panel screens may indicate more upgrades are on the horizon.
ViewSonic has always been one of my top tier choices because of performance, price, quality and their relentless pursuit for improvement. Thus, using and evaluating the high end professional PT775 monitor again is a pleasure. Developed with the SonicTron tube with an aperture grille at 0.25mm dot pitch, 77Hz high refresh rate and 1600 by 1200 maximum resolution, it continues to produce outstanding text, graphics and images with over a year of daily use. Image details are clearly evident and numerous image-correction methods are readily available.
This monitor was easy to set up and configure. Fine tuning images are also a breeze using on screen menus and the picture looks so good that little fiddling is ever needed. All one has to do is turn it on and enjoy. With current prices around $620, it's an excellent value and the results and long term reliability indicators look superb. This unit is highly recommended.
